There are some days I have good reason to grab some of this more than other days.
And I certainly needed it last night.
Just coming back into the swing of things, it took me almost an hour to upload a photo and I have no idea what I was doing wrong. For the record, I’m totally blaming the time away from my blog at this point.
O.M.G.
Uploading a single photo, taking almost an hour of my time and it *still* wasn’t working for me. Can you say annoying?
Anyway, I love my iphone. Like, love, LOVE. I even vlogged about it last year.
But I’m going to clue you in on a dirty little secret.
Ready?
I am a total PC girl.
I know…
**GASP**
I just can’t get away from the fact that I’ve been and probably always will be a total PC girl. And in addition to being a PC girl, I’m an IBM girl.
The truth is, although I like to think I am tech savvy (especially since I keep up with the latest apps and gadgets and hello – I have a blog) I just can’t do it alone. I have some serious limited html skills so when it comes to graphic design and a bunch of code?
I hire a pro.
But in my next life?
I’m totally going for that degree in graphic design – because who knew I would be a real blogger?
In case you haven’t realized, I’m back peeps! I couldn’t be more excited than to be here with you again! So tell me, are you a total Mac or PC girl? If you used to be a PC girl and converted to the Mac, what made you make that leap of faith? If I ever decide to make that jump, I need some advice from those who have gone through it!

The hours i have spent over silly little things that make me cry and pour the pinot noir … oh the nights of wailing.
Why can i not just write my little heart out and have the techno fairies make right with my world?
By the way, welcome home, you were missed 😉
Theta Mom says
I SO missed you guys, too! Thank goodness for Twitter while on blogcation!!
Oh, the techno fairies need to be part of my universe, too. 😉
Sorta Southern Single Mom says
I’m a PC girl… grew up in an IBM heavy part of the country and am not tech savvy enough to make the change… I also have a Droid and not an Iphone!
Theta Mom says
That’s how I feel…it’s like learning a whole new language. They say once you learn it, you’ll never go back but I’m just so on the fence about making the move…love the iphone, though – and heard the Droid is just as good. Baby steps, right?
Jessica says
I’m a totally mac girl. Switched last year and will never go back”
Theta Mom says
This is what I’ve heard…but how long did it take you to “learn” it all? And what was that one thing that made you make the move?
Alison@Mama Wants This says
Well hello there! Hope you had a good break.
I was a PC girl for the longest time, but the toddler somehow sprayed water all over my laptop and the keyboard died.
My husband handed me a Macbook Air that was ‘lying around’ and I’ve been using it for 2 months now. For my purposes, I adapted pretty quick to it. I do miss my Dell. Sometimes. But I look awesome using the Air 😉
Theta Mom says
So within two months, you got a handle on it? Why do you miss your Dell? This is what I mean, I’m not sure if I really would be a Mac girl – I only want to make the move if I know I won’t go back because it’s an $$ investment
Alison@Mama Wants This says
I’ve been using Macs on and off the past few years, so yes, I adapted pretty quickly. When I miss my Dell, I miss stuff like Paint, which I used to create graphics. But, there are many alternatives that I can use. BUT, I do like the Mac. A lot.
Theta Mom says
Thanks Alison
Shell says
I love my iphone and even my ipad- but I’m a PC girl.
I probably wouldn’t complain if a macbook magically appeared though. LOL
Theta Mom says
Yes, ipad to me is the “bigger” version of the iphone so I would totally be ok with that. But when you’re talking different programs from Word, etc on the Mac…it’s a whole new world.
Melissa {momcomm} says
I’m a Mac girl! I’ve used them for just about 20 years now and will never own another PC again! Of course I need an upgrade because mine’s a few years old!
Theta Mom says
But you also have some serious tech skills my friend In your professional opinion, for those (like myself) who are so used to working on a PC, is the jump a serious one or am I over-thinking this whole thing too much? I fear that it will be a whole new world I won’t get used too and I don’t want to make an $$ investment if I won’t love it on all levels, I need to be comfortable with the functionality, you know what I mean?
Lady Anne says
I’m never more than 5 feet away from my iPhone, and I’m almost as addicted to my iPad, but I’m a PC girl all the way. I really don’t think I’ll ever go to Mac – PC is just so much EASIER for me. Plus, it’s a compatibility issue. My office uses PC, and it’s so much easier for me to have everything the same so I can transfer files back and forth and not worry about compatibility – I like being able to do work and personal stuff from my work and personal computers. (I like how I say that like there’s even much of a difference between my “work” life and “personal” life. Ah well, I still like to pretend they’re a little separate.)
When I was younger I could switch between Mac and PC all the time (or Macintosh, as we called them back then). But in the past 15 years I’ve only used a Mac about half a dozen times. For what I do I really don’t *need* a Mac – I don’t do a lot of video or photo editing. The only real attraction for me is how small and light they are – I hate lugging around my PC at conferences! But now that I have a bluetooth keyboard for my iPad, I won’t even have to do that.
This was a really weird and rambling comment – that’s what I get for trying to comment while doing 15 other things! :p
Theta Mom says
We are in the EXACT same boat. PC is so much easier for me – that’s been my issue about making the jump…perhaps I’m not ready yet…or may never be fully ready. 😉
Missy says
I went to Mac about 1.5yrs ago and I will never go back.
I love the integration of all the other things; phone, etc.
But what has been best is I haven’t had any problems with bugs, viruses, etc like I had with a PC. I also think that once you get used to it, Mac is a lot more user friendly and it is definitely an “artist” computer.
Theta Mom says
Missy – this is the ONE thing that really is lame about the PC – in that sense, it makes the Mac sound more user friendly. Thanks for your comment
Craftwhack says
I am a complete and utter Mac girl- mostly because they are intuitive and my little brain needs that. Also, I think my husband would stop loving me if I turned my back on Apple products. But I agree wholeheartedly with your choice of beverages.
Theta Mom says
Well thank you! Cheers 😉
Tracie says
I’m a total PC girl. Everyone loves Macs, and I have read all the things about how much better they are….but I’m afraid of them.
Theta Mom says
As you could tell from my post, me too 😉
Elated Exhaustion says
I’m totally a PC girl and a bit of a techno-phobe. I also have no idea why I decided blogging was the way to go. I am also considering getting an iPhone. It’s like I don’t even know who I am anymore!
Theta Mom says
As for the iphone, I can say you would LOVE it and not know what you did without it!
Making It Work Mom says
I am an iphone, ipad, pc girl. Truth be told I am totally scared of the mac. Yikes!!!
I think I would get so frustrated having to learn so much just to do what I do on my PC so easily.
Theta Mom says
We are in the same boat – this is exactly how I feel…
Martine says
I’ve come full circle:
– I learned how to use a computer on an Apple, 20+ years ago. The Mac ProForma, specifically. Moved on to the Power Book…
– But while an office girl, I became a PC princess for 7 years. HP was my best friend; then…
– Last November, for my birthday, I bought a new Macbook Pro. Turns out I’d been subliminally saving up for it those 7 years as an office girl.
Welcome baaaaaaack!
Theta Mom says
Thanks girl! I am still on the fence but I’m enjoying reading about everyone’s experiences 😉
Galit Breen says
Hee! Welcome back, you!
I used to be a PC girl (by family) and converted to mac (by choice).
Once I got my laptop, I was over-the-moon sold on mac. And once Jason and I could sync our iPhones and my computer so our calendars and photos always aligned, I never looked back.
(I so love that you’re back!)
Theta Mom says
I can see how the whole sync process and icloud would be easier – and thanks for the warm welcome home mama, feels great to be back!
xoxo

ALWAYS been a Mac girl. Our family got our first Mac in 1985.
It’s about time everyone else caught up
I also happen to be a graphic designer and can do all that cody tech stuff too. But when I think back to logging onto a PC with dose, I still twitch…. So it’s official. I’ve dated myself.
Theta Mom says
Yes, I am SO behind the times – hence, the title of this post is very appropriate 😉
HapEllyEverAfter says
DOS, not dose… d’oh!
Cam - Bibs & Baubles says
welcome back! I’m a total PC girl! Your secret is safe with me! 😉
Theta Mom says
Thanks mama!!

Welcome back!!!
Theta Mom says
Thanks mama!

I won’t be very popular with y’all today but I am a MAC girl all the way. I converted exactly three years ago and find that everything got so much easier. I know it’s tough integrating with companies who use PC for compatibility so believe me – I get it but when it comes to blogging, syncing, the mac software for photo editing, imovie, and user experience the MAC is so darn intuitive! I especially now love that when i take a pic on my iphone I don’t have to manually sync it to my Macbook or my Ipad- it’s all there through the iphoto streaming technology. I felt like my resistance to MAC in the beginning was I did not know, what i did not know. Now – I could never go back. Love all of you anyhow though! 😉
Theta Mom says
Thanks for sharing Monica, you pointed out all of the reasons why I would make the jump!
Andrea says
Mac girl here. Can’t help it. I’m of the once you go Mac you never go back mentality. It’s an addiction. My husband wants to switch me but I won’t let him! 😉
Hope you’re well and enjoyed your down time!
Theta Mom says
I’ve heard that from so many people, once you have the Mac you never go back…thanks for the warm welcome home – loved my down time and glad to be back!!
Optimistic Mom says
Welcome back! I missed you.
I am a PC girl, but I’d run to a MAC given the funds to buy one. 😉
Theta Mom says
Exactly!! And thanks so much girl, feels nice to know I was missed. 😉 Gad to be back mama!!
Mish says
Once you go Mac…you NEVER go back! Seriously. I have a Dell Laptop just because I’ve had it and really can’t afford a new MacAir….BUT…if I had the money I would buy two Macs! LOL. We have an iMac for our desktop and it is so much cooler….and honestly, it doesn’t take long at all to figure it out. It’s the same as a PC only WAY cooler! Plus…big advantage here…NO VIRUSES! I was the virus queen on my PC…since switching to a iMac…no more viruses or Trojans! I heart it! Just my two cents. Welcome back! You were missed!!
Theta Mom says
Awww, thanks mama – feels good to be back! And the Mac is way cooler I know, I’m a little behind the times with my IBM 😉
Kimberly says
I used to be a PC girl, but I made the switch to Mac a few months ago when I started my design business. Now I’ll never use a PC again!
Theta Mom says
This is tempting!! And congrats on the design biz mama, SO fabulous!!
Cheryl says
I a PC/Droid girl all the way. I a very technical person, I went Mac for a very short time, and went back. I now own a dual monitor setup PC, a Dell notebook, a galaxy tab 10.1 (Droid) and a galaxy s phone. After all of the problems I ran into with Mac (unable to upgrade hardware, incompatible software, etc.) I’ll never go back.
You want to sync your photos and docs and contacts and calendar? Get Droid phones and tablets with a free google account. Everything in one place, and google has been doing it far longer than iCloud. They have it down to a science! Plus you can access it from any PC or Mac, not just *your* connected devices. Bonus!
