I am thrilled to announce a fabulous new partnership, working with a new client whose online woman-owned business presence is something that I am excited to see grow! Meet Julie Anne Rhodes who is no stranger to the spotlight. Julie Anne had a very successful international modeling career for fifteen years during the time she met now ex-husband Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. Upon moving out to LA and touring with the band for many years, it was at this point when she was given the opportunity to ignite a life-long passion of cooking. She always had ample savvy friends and food critics on hand to cook for, but it wasn’t until she became a mother herself that she acknowledged that she wanted to eat healthier not only for herself, but for her family.
Upon years of training and cultivating her skills as a professional chef, Julie Anne launched The Roving Stove personal chef service in 2002. Her business took off immediately as she planned and prepared weekly meals for a long list of clients ranging from busy families to A-list actors, athletes, and even musicians. She had the innate ability to take this passion of cooking and bring it to others upon demand always using fresh, local ingredients. Julie Anne has been written about in the LA Times and various other publications and her “Best Poultry Burger in America” was featured on Food Network’s Ultimate Recipe Showdown in 2008.
With the thriving success of her business, Julie Anne wanted to have the opportunity to bring her talents beyond her clients in LA. This is when she launched Julie Anne Rhodes (the site and lifestyle brand) to give YOU just that – an opportunity to have the assistance of a personal chef right in your own kitchen! The Personal Chef Approach provides you with the information, recipes, how-to videos and forum to save you time and money in the kitchen so it’s really like having a personal chef work directly with you. Here’s how the Personal Chef Approach works:
By signing up for FREE membership, you have access to the do-it-yourself tools to this approach (you only need an email and password to create an account). Upgrading to the Premium Membership gives you full access to the forums, weekly menu plans, how-to videos and so much more! This membership also includes an exclusive community to share tips and tricks while getting support from the inside forums. On average, the Personal Chef Approach to cooking will actually save you 8-10 hours a week because you will have all of the information you need prepared in advance. As a Premium Member, you have access to the Weekly Menu plan which includes recipes, grocery list, and “heat to eat” instructions so this cuts out all of the guess work when it comes to preparing meals.
Those of you who know me and have read my blog for quite some time know that I am NOT a chef. Actually, I hate to cook. I will be the first to suggest to my family that we are ordering in or going out for a bite to eat just so that I don’t have to cook. I believe a big reason why I hate to cook so much is because I just don’t have the right tools or skills to help me prepare a variety of meals, and I certainly do not have the time to research new recipes. The Personal Chef Approach organizes everything I need in one weekly pdf file, so the beauty of this program is that Julie Anne has done all of the work for me! Grocery lists, recipes and all cooking instructions (even for the cooks like me who burn toast) are all easily laid out so I don’t even have to think about it. As Julie Anne says, “If you can read – you can cook.” It’s also exciting to know that her recipes are client tested and approved. Remember, she’s an award winning professional chef!
Sounds awesome to have meal planning practically at your fingertips, right? And the timing of this program could not be more perfect with the holiday season inching closer! I know many of YOU are moms just like me who are in desperate need of some help in the cooking department and who could use some incentive during the holidays! Well, Julie Anne is here to help us on both fronts and she’s got a super sweet deal right now. She is offering a lucky Theta Mom reader 3 months of the Premium Membership to put her Personal Chef approach to the test. So here you go:
Mandatory Entry: Simply follow my blog (tell me you do) and tell me why YOU need to win this membership! Are you in need of some inspiration in the kitchen? Ashley says
Sounds like a great concept- something unique while being helpful to moms. How do we get her to come cook for us?
Theta Mom says
Well, she still offers private consulation, too bad we’re not in LA 😉
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Hey Ashley – Where are you? You never know when I’ll be in your city. Have spatula will travel is my new motto (I think I must have gypsy blood somewhere). No, seriously I work mainly in the Los Angeles area, but I am traveling with a client for the next six weeks while still commuting back to cook for my regulars here in LA. Racking up those airmiles.
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Almost forgot, I do offer private phone consultations with customized menus for your specific household needs. You can read more about those in the shop on my website.
Jessica says
What a great concept, I am always in need of ideas and someone to remind me to stick to a recipe or get something out of the oven before it is inedible :).
Theta Mom says
I love that she also has the grocery list for each weekly menu plan on the SAME pdf file! Everything in one place makes it such an organized program to follow.
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Organization is the key to the Personal Chef Approach™. Just cross anything you already have in your fridge or pantry and add any other ingredients you need that are not part of the menu (if you add recipes of your own or need household supplies). The idea is to make one quick trip to the grocery store a week.
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Hi Jessica – timers should be your best friend in the kitchen. They are a life saver when cooking multiple meals especially. Stock up now (you can pick them up for about $5.99) for the holidays if you plan on entertaining.
By Word of Mouth Musings says
With the chef of the house being more of a road warrior of late … I have been cooking most nights and surprising myself with my efforts.
Perfect timing
Congrats on the new partnership!
Theta Mom says
Great attitude! Sounds like a perfect fit 😉
Julie Anne Rhodes says
I always tell people “if you can read, you can cook.” It really isn’t that difficult – we just think it is.
I can’t tell you how excited I got when members who claimed they burnt everything before, reported back that they are cooking like pros now. You can see a lot of those comments in the “what members have to say” in the About section.
Tina @ Life Without Pink says
I try to menu plan but it just never happens. Then I go to the store and I forget what ingredients I need…this would be super helpful!
Theta Mom says
That’s me, too! I ALWAYS forget something!!
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Then the weekly menu plan is right up your alley! Menu is planned with recipes, grocery list, and heat to eat instructions – all you have to do is pick the groceries up and set a few hours aside once a week to cook.
Tammy @ Skinny Mom's Kitchen says
This is a great concept and service. Menu planning does take time up front but once you get into the swing of things it is SUCH a life saver for busy parents.
And heather I have been a follower from the beginning and remember clearly your cut and dump recipes
Theta Mom says
I almost linked to my cut and dump posts!! 😉 Yes, we all know what I am like in the kitchen!!
Rachel {at} Mommy Needs a Vacation says
LOVE this!! You know I subscribe to your blog!! BUT…I am going to leave this for someone else. I am one of those weird ladies who likes to meal plan and cook!
Theta Mom says
OMG, why can’t I be more like you on this front? 😉
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Hi Rachel – I’m obviously like you, but we all need recipes from time to time. You can sign-up for the free membership, and have access to recipes and newsletters.
Martine | Daintymom.com says
I’ve always DREAMED of getting into the food business! Julie’s story is inspiring, a perfect example of really going after your passion. I love that she also has these tools for us so that our meal planning, shopping and cooking is made easier! I appreciate meal planning tools and lists, so I’ll definitely be signing up on the site. Yay!
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Great Martine – while most of the advice I give is for the home cook, I just started making the weekly menu plan available for purchase separately, and my first customer was a seasoned personal chef I know in Boston! So if you decide you like doing it at home, you may want to consider it as a business too.
Cam | Bibs & Baubles says
sounds like a really cool concept. I need all the help I can get in the kitchen!!
Julie Anne Rhodes says
We’d love to have you too! I have all sorts of ways to keep it interesting and fun, and the members are some of the coolest women I know with great ideas of their own – I learn as much from them as they do from me!
Tabitha Blue @ Fresh Mommy Blog says
Love this!! I’m a follower already… and just moved to a new state… to an organized approach to meal planning and cooking would be so helpful for our family. We’re still trying to get settled!
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Hey Tabitha – take your time, and start of slow. The first time I cooked for a client it took me eight hours (I was practically in tears wondering what I had gotten myself into), but now it takes me just a couple hours to do five complete meals/four servings of each.
Most members say it only took them one or two cook dates to get the swing of it. If you could do just one cook date now – it would give you time to unpack and get settled without having to worry about what’s for dinner.
Carly Guerrero says
With 6 kids in the home, school meets/my volunteer work with Air1 and a husband who works til after 5, I am ambushed a lot of times and get behind on trying to make the complete meals I want for my family or even eating a hot meal (only me) with my family. Organization is not my best talent either
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Carly – you rock, don’t try to fool me! I’m in awe of all you manage.
Carly Guerrero says
I follow your blog now:)
Jodi says
I am a mom of four kids who works full time days. My husband works full time nights. At any given time someone in our household is looking for food, be it a meal for home or school or work.
I am also on a very specialized diet and wind up having to prepare several different meals for one sitting…HELP!!!
Julie Anne Rhodes says
That’s exactly where the Personal Chef Approach helps most – in households where everyone eats differently. If you make four (or how ever many servings your household needs) of each meal – Tommy can have Suzy’s fish dish that she hates, and Suzy can have pasta twice that week (Tommy’s serving plus hers). That way you aren’t cooking multiple meals every night – just once a week.
Katie Derman says
I just went and checked out Julie Anne’s site, and I think it such a cool spin on meal planning and cooking! Great choice for a new partnership, Heather. I am especially intrigued by the videos, as I can plan but have such weak techniques it takes me FOREVER to make a meal.
Julie Anne Rhodes says
Katie you’ll be whipping those meals out like a pro within weeks. The videos are helpful, but the forum is your greatest support – you feel like your never completely alone in the kitchen, because there is always someone willing to offer advice if you get in a bind.
Cheryl S. says
Just wanted to comment. I have been a member of Julie Anne’s site for a while now. The menus are wonderful! Believe me, I’m not a chef, but Julie Anne makes it incredibly easy. Everything comes out FABULOUS! I just told my hubby that he had to give me a Sunday sometime soon so I can re-stock my freezer. (FYI — Im a mom of a 6 y/o girl and I work FT)
For those of you perusing the site, here are some of my faves:
Lettuce Wraps (I used ground chicken/turkey rather than tofu)
Hoisin Pork (Crockpot recipe that is AMAZING)
Pot Roast (Another crock pot recipe that is incredible)
Goat Cheese stuffed Chicken Breasts (I’m still working on my technique with these, but the flavors are great!)
There are just so many good things. Go Check it out!
Lucy says
I cook regularly, but at least once I week I threaten to stop altogether. In fact, the only reason I keep going is because I like to shop for food. Haha. Anyways, I need the membership so that cooking is less tedious and more fun Not to mention that I tend to make the same meals over and over again.
