It’s Time Out for Theta Mom Thursday! For those of you visiting for the first time, the goal is to grab one hour of time within one week to do whatever you want…without the kids. It’s such an amazing proposition, I know! On Thursdays, post how you spent your “time out” (add my button from the right side bar or link to me) and be sure to stop here to link up and meet other Theta Moms to see how they spent their time out!
So this week, I did it.
I really did it.
Honestly, I must to tell you though, I was dreading it. When I was first married, doing it was such a part of my life. It became routine and I was able to fit it into my schedule without fail. I actually looked forward to it because it was something I was doing for myself. It felt good for my body and spirit, and at the time, I was so addicted to it that when I didn’t do it two days in a row I would feel guilty. And so ladies, I decided I needed to start doing it again…
I put one foot in front of the other, took a deep breath and slowly pressed START…
That’s right Theta Moms. For the first time in ages, I spent time with Mr. Tread Mill.
When I had Baby #1, I was back in my skinny jeans within 6 months. It’s been almost a year and I am nowhere near my skinny jeans right now. Since the birth of Baby #2 almost one year ago, I haven’t spent much time with Mr. Tread Mill. Hence, I still have some unwanted pounds that have stuck around since delivery, or should say pregnancy?
This whole “time out” thing has really inspired me. It certainly has proven one thing to me; although I do not enjoy running (I was never a runner nor do I ever have aspirations to be one), when I used to go to the gym daily, I looked great and felt great. Now at this point in my life, this is where I want to be again. Especially after having children, I want to feel good about my body again.
For me, it really isn’t about the skinny jeans anymore. It’s about feeling great in my own skin within a pair of jeans.
Having said that, I spent my one hour with Mr. Tread Mill, sweating, gasping, and yet totally invigorated because this was something I was doing for myself and nobody else. Not for my husband, not for my kids, just-for-me. Was it hard work? Absolutely. Will it continue to be? You bet. Is it worth the pay-off? You better believe it.
Ultimately, my goal is not to lose a million pounds. Right now, it’s just about feeling good about my body, every inch of it. It’s about getting healthy, toning up and feeling stronger.
This time out was just the beginning for me. Spending some QT with Mr. Tread Mill will help me get there, and ladies I must say, it’s a damn good start.
How did you spend your one hour? Link up and share your time out with other Theta Moms! Also, if you haven’t done so, don’t forget to enter my Bummas Giveaway which ends Sunday. You can enter here.

What a super idea! I will totally have to see if I can carve an hour out of my day today to do something for me. Stopping by from SITS to say hello, I just love your blog!
Curvaliscious says
Good for you for getting back out there! I personally am too lazy to work out and given the ages of my children there is really no excuse but alas, I choose to remain fat 😉
Thanks for popping over to my blog! I will be sure to add you to my blog roll and to follow you on twitter!

good for you!!! I wish I had a treadmill – I'm just waiting for the weather to break down here in FL so I can start getting outside to run in the morning w/ the kids! I've felt so guilty for not doing much lately, but it is so hot!!!
Alice in Wonderland says
I used to run every day, but a broken ankle recently put paid to that! But yea, I'm totally with you on having some "me time"! Good on you for realising that! I have an exercise bike that looks sadly at me everytime that I pass it. I feel so sorry for it, that I must make some "me time" for myself! At least on the bike, I can listen to my i-pod, and not feel so guilty!
reener says
I have 6 hours to myself every day. With one in school and the other at work, it's WONDERFUL! Though it does get boring now and then, I'm very fortunate that I can still be a SAHM.
After 22 years, I finally can get back into my pre-preg size jeans! I'm looking decent after all these years.
yonca says
You did it?
Good for you, Heather!
It's the best way to feel great!
I have indoor cycling bike.
I love it!

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels! That being said, I sure do have a hard time denying myself of all the yummy goodness out there.
Linda @ My Trendy Tykes says

:giggle:
Good luck on the treadmill. I tried it once and failed miserably. It just isn't for me. OH HOW I WISH IT WAS FOR ME THOUGH! I need it. I also need cheeseburgers and chocolate ice cream.
Mrs. G.I. Joe says
Wait to go Heather! I'm ashamed to say I haven't been on a treadmill, well a moving treadmill, since last September 😛
But sadly, no time out for this theta mom until after Sunday. Saturday is Lucy's big birthday party! AH! So much to get done!
Vicki says
I want a treadmill so bad, but we don't have anywhere to keep it. I should get back to the EA active, though, that did make me feel good about myself.
Amy says
Oh baby weight is no fun. I only have one child and I like my body but not certain things. I just smile and try my best. Have a great day.
Too Many Hats says
That's awesome!! I want to get back to walking every morning – did you notice I said walking – running is not even in my bodies vocabulary at the moment.
Beth P. says
Ahhh! I've been dreaming of an affair with MY Mr. Treadmill lately and am hoping to follow right in your footsteps. He sits in the corner right now, and last night actually I imagined how wonderful it would feel to pull him out, plug him in, and step on. Good luck getting to a place you feel great – I have the same goal! Not the number, just how I feel.
JaelCustomDesigns says
I so admire you! I need to take time aout to do something for me. I think I'm going to start yoga again on Saturday mornings! I really enjoyed it and I felt relaxed after classes. Great Idea!

I KNEW there was something I was supposed to do. It doesn't seem that hard to set aside an hour for myself, but I failed miserably at it this past week. I'm gonna to try to do better so that I can play along next time!
Charisse says
Thanks so much for following me. I feel so cool.
So, I just posted a super long blog about my weekend happenings…and totally didn't label it as my Time Out post. This was going to be my first week to participate. But I just dealt with the drama that I have been going through in my personal life. Next week I will definitely participate.

I started doing the treadmill 5x a week three weeks ago. I have to agree, it does make you feel good about yourself, even if the progress is slow.
The twins are 3, I lost some weight after they were born, but gained it back and then some. It's tough when you're busy taking care of kids, home, work. I'm sure you look great. Keep up for 3 wks and it will become a habit, so they say.
BTW: OMG!!!! Thanks for adding me to your blog roll. You are the best! See you soon.
Terese says
Good job on the treadmill. It will get easier, or so they say. At least you got to enjoy some time to yourself for an hour, good for you!
blueviolet says
I think it's great that you got on the treadmill, but girl, did you have to waste your one special hour on it?
The treadmill stinks!
The Grown-Up Child says
Okay, so this week I finally did it. I got my parents to come over and babysit and I told my husband we were going out! We went downtown and ended up running into friends. Appetizers were eaten. Martini's were drank. It was awesome.
Now, what to do this week….
Susan Fobes says
Thanks for commenting my post about the President's speech. I also want to congratulate you on getting back together with Mr. Treadmill. I started weight training at my YMCA for about a month now 3xs a week and I can tell you from experience that the first thing you will notice is your energy level-it will soar. Good luck and stick with it!
Staci says
Good for you! I took an hour today to exercise as well. I should have gone with Mr. Treadmill, but instead went with an exercise DVD that was an hour long. Like you, I was huffing & puffing the entire time, but at least I did it. I'm already sore though. I'll be lucky if I can move tomorrow.
I'm going to have to make myself do that or Mr. Treadmill more often. Sad thing is I don't even have kids or a husband to use as an excuse for not exercising.
Loukia says
Today I took the boys to the park by myself and THEN I braved it and took them to the mall, to the toy store, AND for haircuts – all by myself! The baby cried and cried, my big boy was great, and then we had fast food for lunch! 😉
YAY for you and the treadmill! Way to go!!!
Unknown Mami says
Yay for you! I just re-started working out and I am already feeling better. for me exercise makes my life better because it helps deal with anxiety.
I also think it's great to take a time out with just yourself.

I'm so glad you took time out for yourself! I go to an all women's gym and since I don't have kids yet, it's so inspiring to see all these moms taking care of their health. Some are thin, some are not, but the important thing is that they're moving and taking time for them! Kudos to you!
