Alright ladies, it’s time to get serious. I mean, really.
Many of you will remember the drama that began with two little words: Transition Time. If you missed that post, you can find it here.
So the question of the day (or shall I say year) is, “Where is MY transition time?” When do I get the opportunity to decompress, relax, and have some precious moments to myself? Folding the laundry, taking out the garbage and cleaning out closets does not count as transition time. I mean, seriously!
Having said that, there is no better time for me to properly launch, “Time Out for Theta Mom Thursday!” This is my master plan to get some QT all to myself!
So here’s the deal: I am inviting you to join me in this brigade…yes, you. I know your wheels are turning…it’s such a tempting proposition, isn’t it?
Ladies, we need to find ONE measly hour within one week to do something that we find enjoyable. The hitch? It must be time spent without the kids! Mmmm, that thought is quite magical. Are you excited yet?
Well, there’s more…
Not only do you find this one hour to do whatever the hell you want {get a manicure, read a book, sit in silence, run on the treadmill, have lunch with a friend, blog-blog-blog, go shopping in peace, text endlessly without interruptions, twitter the night away, pound a bottle of wine} whatever floats your boat…
You also get to grab my cute button!
How Theta awesome is that?!
The goal is to use this time out to regroup and recharge…because as Theta Moms, we so need this!!! After my discussion with the hubs recently, you know I desperately need it!
But wait, there’s one more thing…
What would make this even more super F-U-N is to see how YOU spent your one hour! You already know that I will be posting how I spent my time (or the drama of how I didn’t get the chance to take my one lousy hour…that will make for a very interesting post), but it would be so fabulous to hear what you’ve been up to! So you’ll have the opportunity to meet some new bloggy friends and link up. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that!
Especially with the kids going back to school, the drama of everyday, and the endless list of tasks we complete for everyone else, we so deserve this time!
Go grab my cute Thursday button (or link my site), begin to think about how you’re going to use the time (I can feel the excitement already) and then post how you’ve spent your one hour (or lack thereof… trust me, I know how the story goes) for next Thursday (not tomorrow silly…you’re a mom, you need like a full week to get an hour, right?) and let the games begin!
This time out is SO ON!
Are you in?
Clueless_Mama says
Oh yes, I am so in! Although you will probably get more posts from me on how I didn't get it. As I type this now at 2:21am I have a baby attached to my breast. I know TMI (too much info) It seems like I never get an hour! I try to remember I will miss this when they are older Oh well, until next Thursday then.

One hour of pure bliss?! No kids..no husband?

Sounds like fun! Actually, my husband just left with the boys about an hour ago for Atlantic City to see the Thunderbirds. I am all by myself! It hasn't been this quiet in my house in over 6 years. I can actually think. If all goes well, maybe "boys day out" (I'll settle for a couple hours) can be a weekly event
Momma Michie says
I am so in! My life has been full of stress lately and I could really use "one" whole hour a week to do something for me without everyone else dipping into my time.
Thanks Heather! Can't wait to see what everyone spends their time on!
Reluctant Housewife says
This is a great idea!
My only concern is that one hour just doesn't seem long enough!
Alexandra says
I am so in. Bring on the "me time"!

OH, I think I will like this!
My one hour of bliss is wandering up and down aisles of Tar-Jay or even the Good Will store for some mindless therapy.
So happy I 'found' you!

This is a great idea! I was really excited because I thought maybe you were gonna come get me and we were gonna go do something cool! And then I realized it was an hour with myself and I sorta got scared. And then I imagined uninterrupted potty time and I got excited again, so it's all good!
Great idea!
You rock. As usual.
Amo says
Oh, I am soooooo in!! I'll put your button on my blog and jump at the chance to spend my hour on Thursdays!! yay!! All I needed was someone to give me permission! Ha ha!
Momma Such says
You are so clever! I can't wait to see how everyone is spending their 1 hour without the kids!
Name: Holly Bowne says
Oh, I am DEFINITELY in! And you are such a wise Theta Mom to give us all an entire week to contemplate how we will use this hour. When my kids were little, there would be random spontaneous occasions where I'd suddenly have some free time and I'd be so overwhelmed with ideas on what to do, I'd end up wasting half of it and not using the gift to full advantage at all.
I'm looking forward to this!
Ashley says
Sounds like a fabulous idea! Hope you actually get to take your hour!
reener says
Geez, I wish this was around about 10 years ago. I really could have used it. But my kids are now 18 and 21. And I really do have (and FINALLY) time to myself. I can SO relate to all of you though! But I will say it does get easier as they get older.
Complicated Mama says
Is it bad that I am not sure that an hour is enough??? lol
I need like 3 hours– or days, hell — how about a theta mom week? 😉
ok ok i know im getting greedy… Im in for the hour.
Life is good! says
oh how our seasons of life change! my youngest is 19 so when i have a quiet moment or hour, i go and pick up a grandchild or two and bring them to my home. you want time for yourself and that is what i now have but i don't quite need it like i did when my 5 were young. enjoy whatever you enjoy!

Hi! Popping over from SITS roll call to visit.
What a fantastic idea!!
I guess I'm lucky now that I'm retired and a grandmother. I FINALLY get to have QT anytime I want it. I can remember those days of full time wife, full time mom and full time employee outside of the house. I have so totally earned these days now!!!
Sara @ Domestically Challenged says
I may be enjoying some of that time RIGHT NOW!!! Yay!!

What a fun meme!!
Stacie's Madness says
ha, well…seeing as I am a "single" mom, I don't see this happening, unless I do it on my lunch hour at work…and that just seems kinda sad.
I love the idea…and I have every other weekend that I get my me time…that's improvement!
ModernMommy says
This is a great idea. The only thing is I think I need an hour of "me" time everyday! This is a daily struggle for every mom. I'm in!

GIRL! you obviously have not perfected mommy-cide yet…go back and read "Mylicon, Will You Marry Me?"….but yeah…you know I am so down…i think dads think the five minutes they give us to wipe our butts before they ask us where something is is our transition time….next time you should ask him if he'd like to transition back to the bachelor life b/c that's what will happen if he keeps up with that crazy talk!
THETA MOMS ACTIVATE! IN THE FORM OF "A GETAWAY"!

I love the idea, but I stress about taking one hour a month, I don't know how I'll pull this one hour a week off. I'm in though.
Mrs. G.I. Joe says
I'm totally in! I had such a "beta mom" day today with being sick, hubby out of town, baby girl getting sick, trying to plan her birthday party and finish writing my book. But doing that all with a house that seems to be going to pot around me.
G.I. Joe has already promised that when he gets home tomorrow he'll be my helper monkey. I fully plan on taking him up on that so I can get a nap!
