I feel compelled to write about this because I take my blog very seriously. As I’ve said in the past, I began this blog as a way to begin the dialogue about what it means to be a Theta Mom. I have since built an amazing community of women and mothers here. When I receive emails, I respond to the best of my ability and I even helped many of you find the resources that you needed, especially in reference to blogging.
This is the kind of support I am proud of. This is the kind of support that communities thrive from.
However, never would I imagine that a fellow blogger would actually plagiarize an entire page from this blog word for word and place it on her own blog as if it was her own. She literally copied and pasted my entire page, simply adding in the name of her own blog where appropriate.
That is STEALING.
I work very had to create posts that are authentic and original. Furthermore, every company that I work with knows who they are dealing with at Theta Mom because of the policies that I created myself and set forth on this blog.
The bottom line?
Plagiarism is stealing.
It’s unethical.
And it needs to stop.
As bloggers, plagiarism is something that potentially affects all of us, so I would love to hear your thoughts. How do you feel about it and how do you handle it?
***Update: I found out about this yesterday and I am so grateful for your support. As fellow bloggers, you totally understand how wrong this is. Although the blogger referenced in this post has not responded to my emails, she has taken down the page. I was just on her blog this morning and it has been removed. Maybe she finally got the hint that plagiarism is a serious offense and it certainly won’t be tolerated.

GAHHH!!! What are people thinking? Why do they do this? Why do think it’s okay? If she stole your stuff, she must have been stealing other people’s stuff. It throws her whole blog into question. Is anything of hers original? It’s a good thing this came to your attention.

can’t remember if I saw this originally, but Deb just linked to you (Menopausal New Mom) and I wanted to applaud this post. This just happened to me today, too. Just posted about it. I’m so angry. She took the photos/post down, but then she also set her blog to private. So now I can’t see what’s going on over there. But I posted about it and am tweeting about it and I hope she’s scared. Stealing is wrong. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

To my knowledge I have not had anyone copy an entire post, that would be very annoying! I did have someone post one of my pictures from my blog and say I “sent it in”. She did include a link to my blog so it wasn’t as bad and in all honesty this blog is much more popular than mine so she is probably doing me a favor….but it still bothers me that she said I “sent it in” to her blog when I did not.

Hi. I am new here and my search for the best blogs for women led me here. I am a very new blogger (I started just last week actually) and in terms of experience and knowledge about the art of blogging, I don’t have that much to speak of yet. However, I can only imagine the high level of frustration (or anger) that you felt. You’re right that it should never be tolerated. I mean, I think it would be okay for someone else to quote you, or copy-paste a portion of your post (or even the entire post) but it has to be clearly stated that the content was taken from your blog and that you are the writer. It’s also useless to analyze the person’s motives because whatever excuse he/she might come up with, we all know that there’s no excuse.
